Beantown Pastime is a blog covering the national pastime in Boston (aka Beantown) run by Bryan J. Scrafford, a Boston Red Sox fan based in the Northern Virginia suburbs of Washington, DC. The blog will bring news, opinions, and original content from a fan’s perspective. Hopefully it will also be a place where fans from all over the country can come together to discuss the Red Sox.
Growing up in the DC area when Washington didn’t have a Major League Baseball team, Bryan began following the Red Sox. While the Baltimore Orioles where physically closer to DC, the organization’s owner, Peter Angelos, was actively working against MLB bring a club to DC. Combine that with his love for the City of Boston, his desire to follow a team in the AL East, and his love of the history surrounding the Red Sox, Bryan quickly adopted the Sox as his team. He likes to point out that since he started following Boston well before they won the 2004 World Series, he joined Red Sox Nation before it was the “cool thing” to do.
Bryan’s “day job” is as a community organizer with a progressive, grassroots organization. You can read his political blog here.
